The fact of Medicare should be your first clue that Dr. Rich isn't exactly on top of this issue. Are doctors dumping Medicare en masse? Are patients fleeing it? No - and yet Medicare has no restriction on outside, private care. Dr Rich only assumes such a restriction would exist under a universal health care system, with no evidence that anyone is arguing for such restrictions in this country. Dr. Rich can call universal healthcare "Prohibition", but that doesn't make his argument anything more than poorly reasoned metaphor.
