concerned citezen, i understand that, but what got me was the statement <i>"would be willing to limit rescission to only cases of intentional fraud, all three executives said no."</i>
Howcome they don't agree to that? And howcome the insurance companies don't just perform a really thorough underwriting in the first place? That way they don't need to worry about the bad press of recissions.

Yikes. I review individual applications every work day. I research the applications and have come to the conclusion that people do indeed misrepresent their health status on applications to which they sign their name. Its done frequently and deliberately. It is stealing from the insurance company and the members of the insurance pool. Misrepresentation results in higher premiums.

The reason the executives left a funny fealing to all watching is that there before you is someone making a commitment to profit on someone else's death.

You can wrap the words recision up all the different ways you want to but what it comes down to is an insurance company denying insurance at that time when coverage is most needed. When you are sick from chemo who has the strength or resources to sue to reverse a recision. More likely it is a decision of the surviving family.

Myself I couldn't sleep at night if I knew that I was working for a company that made a business of profiting off death.
