The issue here is not one of either fairness or compassion. It's one on honesty. Both sides in the debate know that illegal aliens will be covered. It's all about how and how not to include the cost of illegals in the announced cost of a health care reform bill. It they pretend that they are not going to be covered, they don't have to include their 200-300 billion dollar cost in the final numbers. Meanwhile illegals will either continue to get treatemnt either at ERs or at safety net providers with government picking up the tab. Or... they will be come legitimately insured when future immigration reform legislation legitimzes them and brings them into the insurance system. But, by then it will just be considered another cost overrun on another big government program.
