[edit] University of Colorado - CU (Boulder) Health Insurance Plan Information

The optional health insurance program at the University of Colorado - (CU) is called the Student Gold Health Insurance Plan. The policy is underwritten by: Aetna Life Insurance Company (ALIC) And Administered by: Chickering Claims Administrators, Inc.

[edit] Deductible and Coinsurance

The policy has a $20 deductible per hospitalization per person per calendar year with a coinsurance of 80%. The policy does cover maternity.

[edit] Drawbacks To The Plan

As with most student health insurance plans available through the school, there are very low limits on how much the policy will pay (despite the lifetime maximums stated for the overall policy), leaving a high exposure to the students insured through the plan.

"High Cost Procedures" (including CAT Scan/MRI Expenses) have a maximum benefit payable up to $1,300 per Injury or Sickness per calendar year.

The Overall Maximum Prescription Drug Benefit: $3,000 per Policy Year.

The Overall Plan Maximum: $250,000 per Covered Person per Lifetime.

[edit] Price of the Plan

Coverage Fall Spring/Summer Summer
Student $790 $790 $395

  • Spring semester cost automatically includes summer coverage, but does not include the
