About Us
Insurance Shoppers is a small, locally owned health insurance brokerage run by Jay and Louise Norris. In July, 2009 we moved from Broomfield, Colorado to Wellington, Colorado.
We’ve been working with health insurance in Colorado since 2002. We’ve come to gain many satisfied clients, we’ve been referenced by publications like Colorado Health Foundation Magazine, Forbes, MedScape by WebMD, Consumer Reports, The Denver Business Journal, The Colorado Springs Business Journal, and we’ve been consistently recognized with a Gold Star Award by the Better Business Bureau. The Better Business Bureau also gives Insurance Shoppers an A rating. We only represent top carriers with a proven history of stability and customer service. We maintain up-to-date information on underwriting with each health insurance company and are in daily contact with underwriting and claims, so we understand their unique procedures. Before you make a decision, we prefer that you have us review a plan comparison with you so we can illustrate the gaps in coverage on certain plans and further help you understand why various plans have such a difference in premium.
The main thing you’ll notice when working with us is that we aren’t interested in “selling” you on anything. We don’t start out by recommending a type of plan or a particular health insurance company until we take the time to listen to what you want covered, what conditions you’ve had in the past, and hear about your unique situation.
Louise Norris is from Burlington, Colorado and graduated from Colorado State University. She then joined the Peace Corps and lived in Tanzania for 2 years teaching math. Her specialty around here is underwriting. If you have a pre-existing condition, she’ll usually know off the top of her head which company will work best and is very close with the underwriters at all of the health insurance companies if she doesn’t happen to know right away.
Jay is from Rock Springs, WY and graduated from UW. I’m kinda accident prone. I have a titanium rod in my left humerus from snowboarding, healed broken leg from playing football, currently recovering from knee surgery after a crash on my mountain unicycle, and various other scars), so that’s how I developed an interest in the Colorado health insurance industry. For people like me, I recommend combining your health insurance plan with an accident supplement to minimize financial exposure and rate increases. I enjoy keeping on top of the latest buzz in the health insurance industry and I’m always digging for ideas that can advance it further with our blog, Colorado Health Insurance Insider, or helping to educate people and advance opinions and ideas using the Colorado Health Insurance Wiki. If you have questions on HSAs, I am more than happy to answer any questions you have about them.
Outside of health insurance, we live in Wellington, Colorado with our sons Matt and Jack. We both enjoy mountain biking (favorite trails around our area are White Ranch, Chimney Gulch, Apex Park, Walker Ranch, and Falcon), snowboarding, and gardening. Louise does a lot more running, road biking, swimming, triathlons, and snowshoeing with our dog Lukky. My other big interests are mountain unicycling and I’m also a member of the Mile High Disc Golf Association.
